The city of Mississauga is governed and run by cowards and buck-passers. A young woman bought a puppy at a flea market and it turns out to be, oh no!, one of those dreaded and outlawed pit bulls. It has not attacked anyone. It has not threatened anyone. Its only crime is to be born […]

Tomorrow is the provincial election. If you love dogs and hate injustice, vote for anyone who’s not a Liberal candidate. The provincial Liberals brought in Bill 132 which made peaceable pit bulls and their owners into pariahs. Dog attacks still occur on a regular basis throughout the province because we don’t have generic dangerous dog […]

Twenty hour days should not be the norm.
My conference paper for Friday is still not ready to go.
I have piles of marking to complete before 1:30 on Wednesday.
The internet was down (our modem is “flaky” and has to be serviced or replaced) until 8:30 and all the marking left to do is online so I’m […]

Somewhat like some of my photos, today’s passed by in a blur: much of it dealing with Goldie’s recovery.

We all marveled at his communication skills but I’m sure that those who worked with Alex mourn his impish individuality a […]

Poor girl! She’s only five. Surgery’s scheduled in a week and half. The only trouble will be with the location: it’s an area […]

Spike and Angel, eldest’s new pet rats. This picture features the latter rat, cozy at the bottom floor of their three story habitat. They’ve been with us for five days now and are beginning to settle in. Very cute, very inquisitive, very well taken care of by eldest!

Racehorse Barbaro was put down today. It was the right thing to do say his owners and vets, in light of his recent setbacks. They had always made it clear that if he was no longer fighting to improve or seemed to be stuck with constant pain they would euthanize him.
All owners should care so […]

We have two dogs. Two dogs who both want the other dog to be jealous of whatever they have. Two dogs who define their own happiness in the unhappiness of others.
To wit: give each dog a rawhide bone stuffed with processed cheese and each will warily eye the other before diving after the other’s bone. […]

Knowledgable Canadians can just hit the back button now if they are not fond of this commercial, but I promised a link for my sister and my father: No Meat, No Hubert and for anyone else who enjoys the dynamics of cat ownership.
