Moving House
Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 It’s time for me to pick up stakes and mosey along to a new URL for my blog and a new blogging identity. This blog is now closed — an archive and not an abode.
Thanks for all the memories!

My Forecastfox just raised a pop-up to alert me that the temperature’s risen to a balmy -18 Celsius.
Let’s just say that they don’t call our break week in February “Spring Break” for a very good reason. Brr!
I got some rather lovely news at work this week. This is great because otherwise I’ve been:
nursing a nasty cold that involves constant post-nasal drip
dealing with new snow and old snow (courtesy of Canada Post deciding to shovel it from in front of the mailbox to in front of our driveway — breaking by-laws merrily […]
My head hurts (a lot). My stomach is beyond growling (oops, wrong!). I can’t concentrate on anything.
I taught through the lunch hour and failed to grab something to eat after that.
Coincidence? Not!
It’s that time of year when we wax schmaltzy. Let it suffice that 2007 has been a very, very good year for me and mine: a new house, steady work, lots of writing output and wonderful times with family. If 2008 is only half so kind, we will be blessed, indeed.
Today was the first day I ventured off the property since, what, Christmas Eve? Mostly I holed up in the house, entertaining, baking, reading, tidying, gaming, playing Scrabble — the usual lazy holiday feeling. Tried not to watch too much news because, oh!, things never seem to get any better, do they?
Gifts were good and […]
Once again, it was the United Way luncheon and raffle at our university. And, once again, I won a raffle prize. This makes three years running and when you consider that over 400 staff and faculty attend this lunch, most of them buying raffle tickets?, that’s uncannily fortunate. (No, I don’t have an “in” with […]
While others enjoyed Thankgiving, it was a normal week’s end here at the Abode. I put aside my grading duties for the past four days to
take care of some medical issues in the family
play an evening of Everquest
shop for housewares (we have new dinner plates and wine glasses!)
spiffy up the abode
host some friends and their […]
I used to feel a bit like the invisible person in my university (this was helped by a string of long-time employees never recognizing me at all, even though I was the longest-serving woman in my program). I realized that I don’t feel that way anymore; I haven’t in several years. One of the reasons? […]
What makes a man like mine so special? Because when you arrive at work and realize you’re wearing one black boot and one brown boot, he’ll go back to the house to fetch the other ones of the pair so you can carry on your day and not look like a complete doofus.
Thanks, Mike!
