Today I:

• spent more than an hour documenting an extremely serious situation after spending several hours on the same over the past two weeks
• met with the various interested parties for another hour to work through the situation (a resolution is in sight!)
• failed to win anything with two Roll Up the Rim to Win cups of tea. I am 0 for 6 so far this round!
• finished marking all of my graduate students’ assignments
• met with several seminar students to discuss their essays and progress, digging up obscure references and seventeenth century statutes as needed to assist in their research
• met with another student to discuss a senior research project on which I’m a secondary reader
• administered a make-up midterm for another student
• advised a colleague on how to deal with a touchy and entirely vexatious situation
• looked at my research folder and sighed wistfully
• met my totally wonderful class of graduate students for their seminar
• raced pell-mell homewards to pick up youngest from school
• found eldest had forgotten her library card for the morning’s class outing and had to return to the downtown library to pick up the books she needed for her next school assignment
• threw kids in car and careened back downtown to library, then took them by Harvey’s for a fastfood dinner
• collapsed in front of my computer at 5 — can I be done yet?
