Tomorrow is the provincial election. If you love dogs and hate injustice, vote for anyone who’s not a Liberal candidate. The provincial Liberals brought in Bill 132 which made peaceable pit bulls and their owners into pariahs. Dog attacks still occur on a regular basis throughout the province because we don’t have generic dangerous dog legislation along with governments that have the will to enforce the same.
Dalton McGuinty and his shameless band of yobos ought to be run out of town on a rail, damnit. They based their legislation on a pack of lies and every time they were confronted with real information that showed that, they ignored it. The media collaborated in this travesty — apparently the fear of killer dogs sells more newspapers than the rational truth that bad behaviour comes in any dog breed and that poor training or inadequate supervision are the roots of dog-bite tragedies, not breed bans.
Who should you vote for? You decide — there are plenty of options! Both the NDP and the PCs opposed Bill 132 and have expressed their dissatisfaction with the current situation of the DOLA that considers pit bulls the major menace in Ontario. The Greens have made no clear statement on the issue which is a disappointment. But any one of those options strikes me as a far better alternative than this parcel of rogues known as the Liberal Party of Ontario.
There are other reasons why I won’t vote for the Ontario Liberals but it’s enough to say that a party of fearmongerers and panderers doesn’t deserve to be returned to power. As they did ran roughshod over the safety-conscious pit bull owners of Ontario, so they’re sure to do to a host of other unsuspecting and law-abiding groups in the future if they’re returned to a majority government.
