Gas Crazy

The town’s gone gas crazy. With prices set to zoom up by 20% or more, everyone in town seems to be filling up. Every station we passed had lines heading out into the traffic: shades of the 70s oil crisis!

It wasn’t my first priority since we had two-thirds of a tank, but I’m still pleased I managed to find a short enough line at the really cheap station attached to the grocery store and fill up. CAN$1.04 9/10 per litre.

How’s the gas situation in your area?

Yesterday morning I filled up, not because of the media reports, but because I was on “E”. I paid $2.49US/gallon. On my way home last night I noticed the same place had upped their price by 10 cents.

$1.06 here. Haven’t seen anyone counting in tenths of a cent yet, t least not on signs.

Thankfully i drive a diesel, and even if the prices go up, I get really good mileage on it, far better than gasoline.

Well, here in England we pay 92p per litre. That’s about US$1.66.

It’s got nothing to do with the situation in the Gulf or storms wrecking gas installations in the Caribbean. Our government regards petrol sales as a “cash cow.”

In the USA, 11 cents of the price of petrol (”gas”) is tax. In the UK, it’s more than 50p (90 cents.)

Mind you, there is only one toll road in the whole of the UK, and that runs alongside a perfectly good (but slightly congested) free motorway.

I live near the east coast of the USA, not in a big city, but within a 45 minute drive of one of the larger big east coast cities. Our gas was at $2.89US today.

North Bay is in the $1.20 range CDN

There were lines at more than one gas station here in Small City, USA, and gas was $2.84/gallon.

Small town in Pennsylvania… This morning prices were $2.99US/gallon. That’s fifty cents more a gallon than what I paid 2 days ago.

    Mississippi: coast is around $2.85
    North Mississippi $2.35
