Just when I think I have enough, I discover more that needs to be packed (or purged — a major dump trip is looming again in our future!). It’s less than a week now until we move houses. Eep!

Spent some time today online and on the phone, switching services for our move and we hit a surprising snag. We’re only moving 4 kilometres by road and yet Bell Canada claims that we can’t retain our old phone number as the new house is in a different switching centre area. WTH?
Am not amused but […]
Good News the first: We are all healthy and were productive today. Kids were back in school and grown-ups got things done. Like purging broken or outgrown toys from youngest’s room and scoping out dining room sets.
Good News the second: My office will get shelves early next week!
Bad News the only: Art the campus carpenter […]
Both at the office and at home, this week is full speed ahead in the purge and pack marathon. I should be completely moved at the office by the end of the week. After recycling enough offprints and old notes to fill a blue bin standing chest-height, I have more papers to purge tomorrow as […]
We tried out a new service today, 1-800-GOT-JUNK, and it was a fantastic way to rid our basement of some unwieldy pieces that weren’t going to make the move. I heartily recommend it if you’ve got oversized items that aren’t worth the cost of renting a cube van to haul out for disposal (these were […]
Three straight days of high humidity have rendered this house and blogger into a moist mass of misery. Can we have a little respite and soon, please?

Okay, I know it will still be painful. But […]
Sorry for the blog silence, but real life has kept us hopping, here at the Abode. Or what will soon be the ex-abode as we’ve sold our house and bought a new house with a move-in date for mid-summer. All the above was accomplished within four days and our heads are still a-whirl. Let […]
There is something disheartening about getting a nasty snowfall in the middle of April. Especially when, even in your weather-savvy town, you witness three accidents during your morning drive (the scariest of which was someone who’d wiped out going down the same hill I was and ended with their minivan embedded into the schoolyard fence).
Today’s been one of those days: came home from running errands and pretty much nothing’s been right since.
Colour printer cartridges no longer can be bought by themselves but must be bought bundled with a black cartridge. I knew the number of the colour cartridge I needed, not the black cartridge that I didn’t and guessed […]
