We’re heading back from our fun family vacation in the Caribbean where we spent a lot of time swimming in the sea and just plain relaxing. It was great to visit with my sister and father for the whole week. Soon we’ll have to face the realities of packing up for our move, but […]

Yesterday, eldest came home sick. And she was very sick, indeed.
This morning, Mike confessed he didn’t feel all that well.
Half an hour ago, youngest’s teacher called us up with the news that she wasn’t feeling good.
Now I’m beginning to wonder how my stomach’s sitting. . . .
Wish us luck?
Thanks to my family for heroically coming to my rescue last night and helping me clean out my desk and move the last boxes up to my new office.
Boos to the university for completely screwing up my moving timetable leaving me in a new office with no shelves, no ETA for same and no place […]
We took the girls to swimming this morning where they got the good news that eldest passed her Master’s Swimming program so it’s on to the lifesaving training when she’s ready. Youngest still has to work on Star One and is a bit discouraged, but doesn’t have half the skills yet to proceed. Since it […]
Breaking all the rules again, I know. But eldest got one of those Fridge Magnet Poetry sets and we’ve been having lots of fun today. (General Flickr update has been done, as well — check out my Flickr page for pictures from the past month including our Virginia vacation.)

As an extra treat and to acknowledge their maturity, I let them enjoy the movie without my inhibiting presence. (As an aside, this was a bit of a sacrifice since I am […]
The vacation is almost at an end. The entire family has had a glorious time and we would love to be back here in a year. There are so many amusements and historic sites still to experience!
But pets and family and work and packing all beckon, so we’re flying north tomorrow and settling back in […]
So, in my bid to cut down on piles of paper before we move, I’m following through on a vague promise to eldest: we began scrapbooking today. This way we’re able to winnow down the immense pile of art and school photos dating back to 1999 (and maybe even some preschool materials!) as well as […]
Worrisome situation going on in the family. Not really bloggable. Waiting on news from out west.
Have you heard about WISE: Women in Science and Engineering? Last spring I morosely blogged about how eldest wasn’t nominated by her teacher for their day-long workshop aimed at interesting girls in grades 4-7 in the fields. Eldest was devastated. This year, the process was opened up for self-nomination and we acted fast so […]
